For more than 40 years, Patrick has been a professional observer, in Australia and around the world, as a journalist, TV reporter and presenter, documentary maker and author.
He draws on this hard-won experience to observe the many outstanding individuals he has met - through the lens of leadership. He has studied many of these subjects in depth for his books and documentaries and he has distilled the insights he gained from them to discern the patterns and qualities that characterise the great ones.
Some of the leadership qualities that consistently emerge are compassion, empathy, moral courage, resilience, generosity, humility and the abilities to listen and to reflect dispassionately.
In developing his presentations, Patrick uses dramatic true stories from his life experiences and from his work on books like on The Spirit of Kokoda, The Spirit of The Digger, the Bali bombing, Fromelles, The Coast Watchers, his biographies and his series of inspirational books.
He’s worked with some of Australia’s leading corporations, including AMP, NSW Police Force, Telstra, Comm Bank, IPAC, MLC, Services Clubs Association, etc.
One of Australia’s leading non-fiction authors, Patrick is also an acclaimed documentary maker, broadcaster and public speaker. He has written 21 best-selling books, including six books in his inspirational series, which have sold more than 300,000 copies in Australia and overseas.
As principal of Limetree Studios, an independent production company, he created the format for Endemol Shine’s highly-acclaimed reality TV series In Their Footsteps, which was broadcast on the Nine Network, and the award-winning feature documentary, Kokoda … the spirit lives, showing on National Geographic Channel and Nine.
He is an accomplished keynote speaker and sought-after Master of Ceremonies. In 2015, he was named a Member of the Order of Australia for his services to the media, international relations and literature.
